Hey!
Week #4 of my Weight Loss Journey and I’ve got GREAT NEWS!
(I was super busy last week with my online business and didn’t make time to post… forgive me)
BUT… I just weighed and my trusty bathroom scale grudgingly admitted that I am now weighing 283 pounds!
I LOST 7 POUNDS!!! YAY!!!
It only took me all of a month but what the heck! I did it!
I’m on my way to losing a whopping 100lbs by March 2014!
I think I’ll name him “Fred”… yep, that’s what I’ll do! I shall call him, Fred!
Let it be known that from this day forward and forever more my insidious bathroom scale shall be dubbed … Fred!
283lbs… that’s what Fred said!
I started on this journey (10/13/13) so it’s exactly one day shy of a month.
My new eating habits consist of lots of baked fish and steamed vegebubbles (that’s what I like to call vegetables), fruit juices (an all-time favorite of mine, particularly Apple)
I actually create my own Smoothies by mixing a low fat yogurt with Apple juice and…. voila!, smoothie galore!
I’ve also started exercising regularly by climbing the stairs in my Apartment Building and doing some resistance weight training at home.
There are 31 flights of stairs up and 31 flights down and I started completing 3 Sets of these as I hadn’t exercised in years… literally!
I quickly upped the ante to 5 and then 8 and finally 10 complete rounds of 31 flights up and 31 flights down those stairs.
After 2 weeks I decided to push the bar a little by adding one complete Set every week so week #3 had me doing 11 Rounds and week #4, 12 Rounds and now I am going to start doing 13 Sets of those stairs today.
By March I should be completing 30 Sets of stair climbing and be fit as a fiddle!
As part of my exercise routine I also do some resistance weight training using my Tower 200 Body By Jake Home Gym!
It’s this niffty little set up consisting of 6 resistance bands of high tensile elastic with handles for your hands and feet that you can hang on any door of your house and have an instant Gym!
I’ve started Curling 3 sets of 15 reps with medium resistance and Squatting the same sets and reps with the same resistance. (The Squats are a combination regular Squats with a Military Press at the end)
I’ll be adding more exercises as time goes by and I get more in shape, also increasing the resistance on the exercises that I do now.
My Achilles Heel has always been to do too much too fast and hurt myself, so I’m being wise and taking it slow and easy at first! I believe exercise should be fun and enjoyable if it’s going to be a long-term habit and form a permanent part of your lifestyle.
I still remember that Hamstring injury I got more than 30 years ago when I was into Martial Arts and practicing my side split so, slow and steady wins the race from now on!
Since my weight loss for the first month was miniscule here are my last month’s photos again:
I expect to lose 100 lbs over the next 5 months at an average of 20 lbs per month started October 2013 and culminating in March 2014.
I will continue to keep you updated here on my Blog!
I’ll take progress photos and publish them at least once per month and weigh myself and publish the results weekly with the occasional update during the week as well!
Until next week then, Chaio for now!
