Why Do Christians Experience Sickness and Poverty?

There are several reasons why Christians experience sickness and poverty.

Being a Born Again Believer does not automatically protect you from everything the devil sends your way.

God gave you DOMINION!

Having dominion means you have a part to play in protecting yourself and your loved ones from the enemy.

When God first created Adam there wasn’t any Sin present in the garden yet He still told him to Dress it and Keep it!

To Dress means to Cultivate. To Keep means to Protect.

Even in Paradise the Child of God still needed to protect himself and his family from the enemy.

The #1 reason Christians experience sickness, poverty and other types of demonic oppression is because of ignorance.

God said, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6

Our ignorance is manifested in our faulty beliefs.

Fear vs. Faith

Wrong believing leads to wrong thinking, wrong thinking leads to wrong living, and wrong living always has disastrous results.

To protect ourselves from sickness and poverty we need to correct our belief system… Especially in the area of Sin and Judgement.

If we, as Christians believe that when we sin we deserve God’s judgement and He will punish us, then we are ripe for the devil’s attack.

If we believe that sickness is the consequence of our sin then we cannot be in faith and trust God for healing at the same time.

How can we believe that the God who is supposed to heal us is the same God who is putting the sickness on us?

That’s the definition of an abusive relationship, isn’t it?

It’s like a woman living with a man who constantly professes his love for her but beats her every once in a while to “show her how much he loves her.”

We label men like that dangerous and put them in prison. Yet this is the very concept some of us have of God.

We think that the same God who confesses His love for us throughout the Bible is the same God who makes us sick and broke to “teach us a lesson”… That’s perverted!

For you to think that this is God’s character is a devilish doctrine and is the very reason satan can successfully attack you and your family.

The devil needs the permission of your fearful heart in order to successfully attack you.

The bible says that our battle is one of faith.” 1st Timothy 6:12

Therefore, the only time your enemy can prevail against you is when you’re not in faith.

But faith is nothing more than trust in God so the question is… how can you trust the very person who is abusing you? You cannot.

Once you believe it is God  who is putting sickness on you, you will not trust Him on a subconscious level to heal you and that’s where your faith is rooted.

You can mouth all the faith confessions you want, they will not work if on the subconscious level you do not trust God… and the devil knows this.

It is only when you’re NOT walking in faith the devil can successfully attack you.

Satan’s Master Strategy

His strategy is to convince the Christian that when you sin God makes you sick or broke as punishment which makes you fearful of God’s judgement.

You cannot have fear and faith filling your heart at the same time.

Once satan searches your heart and finds fear instead of faith that’s his legal ground to attack your health and finances.

Once he has legal grounds, God has to allow it because God is perfectly just and must act consistent with His own nature and character.

This is the strategy satan used with Job.

Job said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” Job 3:25

Job’s heart was fearful and this gave satan the legal ground to attack his family, his health and finances.

Satan’s true power is not in putting sickness or poverty on you but in deceiving you into distrusting God and believing the lie.

If he can get you to distrust God he can get you to believe any other lie he might suggest to you.

This is the strategy he used with Eve and it’s the same strategy he’s been using for millennia and will continue to use as long as it’s successful against Christians.

The truth is, God is for us and can never be against us.

If you ever want to evaluate whether you can trust God just look at Jesus and understand His sacrifice.

Jesus is the perfect revelation of God. He is what God is and who God is to us!

Cultivate your belief and trust in God, seeing Him as He truly is… Someone who will literally give His life to save yours.

When you understand and walk in this truth you’ll be in strong faith, protecting yourself against the real attack of the devil.

Knowing the 3 Levels of Ministry: Sowing ~ Watering ~ Reaping

In Matthew chapter 13 Jesus likened Evangelism to a farmer planting seeds in a field.

Based on the farming analogy there are 3 levels to effective Evangelism.

1) Planting the Seed
2) Watering the Seed
3) Reaping the Harvest

If you’re not clear on which type of ministry the person needs you cannot be effective in ministering to them.

The Bible says, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” 1 Corinthians 3:6

It also says, “He who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death.” James 5:20

These two scriptures confirm the 3 aspects of personal evangelism and include a 4th which is God’s part… To add the increase.

Adding the increase simply means God is the One who gives life and power to all we say and do.

He gives the grace to receive, and the faith to believe the Gospel we share with others.

Our effectiveness however, is in being led by the Holy Spirit to correctly identify what each individual needs as we’re speaking to them.

If they’ve never heard or understood the Gospel they need to have the word planted in their hearts.

If they’ve heard the Gospel but are confused and still have questions, they need to have the seed watered.

If they understand the Gospel and are ready to make a decision for Christ, then they’re ready to be harvested.

If someone is ready to be harvested but you spend all your time trying to plant a word that’s already planted, you won’t have success!

If someone is confused and has questions but you’re trying to force them into making a decision they’re not prepared for, you won’t have success either.

That person may just say a Prayer to appease you without actually repenting and instead of becoming born again they may walk away more confused than ever… and still lost in their Sin!

It is the inexperienced Christian who feels that they must convert every person they share the gospel with.

Remember, it is God who gives the increase. He’s the One who actually saves and delivers the sinner… Not you!

Your job is first to find out from the Holy Spirit what this person’s condition is so you can effectively minister to their needs.

Then be guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit in meeting those needs.

A person may have heard the gospel and be given the grace to receive it but their most pressing need when you meet them may be for healing.

If you have learnt to wait on the Holy Ghost He may empower you to lay hands on the person and minister healing to them and as a result they may now be perfectly ready to confess faith in Christ and enter the Kingdom of God.

In this case, ministering healing to them would count as watering the seed because after receiving healing they would now have a better understanding of the Kingdom of God.

So in this case, you would have watered the seed then reaped the harvest right after.

The key is to always be guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit in discerning what condition your prospect is in, so you can offer the correct type of ministry they need.

Neerja Bhanot: Heroine of Hijacked PA 73

Neerja Bhanot: The Heroine of Hijacked Pan Am Flight 73

Neerja Bhanot was born on September 7th 1963 in a Brahmin family to mother, Rama Bhanot and father, Harish Bhanot.

Neerja was the senior flight purser on the ill-fated Pan Am Flight 73, which was hijacked by four terrorists after landing at Karachi from Mumbai.

PA 73 was en route to Frankfurt and onward to New York City.

Bhanot alerted the American cockpit crew about the hijack and, as the plane was on the tarmac, despite being tackled, she helped the three-member cockpit crew of pilot, co-pilot and the flight engineer escape from the aircraft.

Bhanot, being the most senior cabin crew member left on board, then took charge.

The hijackers were part of the Libya backed Abu Nidal Terrorist Organization and instructed Neerja to collect the passenger’s passports so they could identify the Americans.

She and the other attendants under her charge hid the passports of the 41 Americans on board – some under a seat and the rest down a rubbish chute so the hijackers could not differentiate between American and Non-American citizens.

After 17 hours, the hijackers opened fire and set off explosives whereupon Neerja sprang into action opening the emergency door, flinging open a chute and helping a number of passengers escape

She could have been the first to jump out when she opened the door but decided rather to stay and help and eventually laid down her life while shielding three children from a hail of bullets fired by the terrorists.

 

The Hijackers

The hijackers were captured by Pakistan, tried, convicted and sentenced to death in 1988.

Their sentences were later commuted to life in prison.

In 2001, Zayd Hassan Abd Al-Latif Masud Al Safarini, one of the hijackers who shot the passengers, was captured by the FBI in Bangkok after being released by Pakistan.

He is currently serving 160-year prison term in Colorado. Four others were freed from Pakistan’s Adyala Jail in January 2008. The FBI announced a $5 million bounty on their heads.

 

In Her Honor

Neerja Bhanot was recognized internationally as “the heroine of the hijack” and is the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra Award, India’s highest peacetime military decoration awarded for valor, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield.

In 2004 the Indian Postal Service also released a stamp commemorating her.

With the insurance money and an equal contribution from Pan Am for using their brand name in the title, Bhanot’s parents set up the Neerja Bhanot Pan Am Trust.

The trust presents two awards every year, one for a flight crew member, worldwide, who acts beyond the call of duty and another to an Indian woman who, when faced with social injustice helps other women in similar social distress.

A square called Neerja Bhanot Chowk is named after her in Mumbai’s East suburb by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. It was inaugurated by Amitabh Bachchan in the early 1990s.

 

 

Re-Thinking the Assurance of Your Salvation

How to be Sure You Cannot Lose Your Salvation

 

Whatever sources something, must sustain it.

If a spring is the source of a river and the spring dries up the river will cease to flow.

A candle’s flame goes out when all the wax is used because the wax is the source and sustainer of the flame.

It’s a universal principle that whatever you source, you must sustain.

The Bible says Jesus created and sustains the universe.

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible… all things were created by him, and for him.” Col 1:16

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command.” Heb 1:3 {New Living Translation}

Here’s the same verse from the English Standard Version of the Bible, “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.”

Now here’s the clincher, Jesus is the source of your Salvation, therefore He has to sustain it.

The Bible says, “Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.” Heb 5:8-9 {NIV}

Jesus is the source of your salvation.

If you are not the source of your salvation, you cannot be the sustainer of it.

And if you’re not the one sustaining it, how can you be responsible for keeping or losing it?

You are kept by the power of God not your own power, therefore, you literally CANNOT lose your salvation.

“Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.” 1st Peter 1:5

If it were even possible for your salvation to be lost it would still not be up to you, it would be up to Jesus to lose it.

Jesus has to lose your salvation because HE’S the one who is sustaining it… Not you!

And the Bible seals the deal when in John 18:9 Jesus said to the Father, “I did not lose a single one of those you have given me.” {ISV}

Plus in John 10:27-29, He said again, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” {NLT}

So, your salvation is sustained by Jesus.

You are kept by the power of God.

Your eternal life is kept safely in Jesus’ hand.

Your spiritual security is also kept safely in the Father’s hand.

Explain to me again exactly HOW you can lose your salvation???
